We believe every child deserves a supportive environment tailored to their unique needs. Our dedicated SEND team works closely with families to ensure a seamless, nurturing educational journey for everyone.
Supporting your family
At Hatherleigh Preschool, we believe every child has the right to a rich and varied education. We work hand-in-hand with parents and specialists to ensure you and your child feels safe, valued, and empowered. Where ever you are on your SEN journey we are here to support you in any way that we can. We have many years of experience supporting SEND children, including those with complex needs and can offer support in all areas regarding SEN including filling out forms and accessing support from other services at home if needed.
Early Identification
We observe and track every child's development closely. If we notice a child might need extra support, we discuss this with you immediately to plan the best next steps together.
Tailored Learning Plans
All children at Hatherleigh preschool receive individual planning, for many children this is done by their keyworker on an an individual planning sheet.
For children needing extra support and those with SEND this will involve a plan of support which will be shared with the parents during a meeting with their keyworker, and all members of staff during a staff meeting. These plans are regularly updated by our SENCO, discussed between members of the team and parents to ensure the plan is working for everyone, helping the child to progress and reflecting their needs as they grow and develop.
More complex needs
We are able to support children with a wide range of needs and can offer gentle transitions, quieter spaces and 1:1 support when needed. Our staff are trained in a range of strategies to support complex needs and work closely with organisations such as portage to ensure your child can thrive at preschool. We are able to assist with securing an EHCP to ensure funding can be accessed to support your child as they transition to primary school and can assist with administrative needs for the family such as supporting your DLA application.
Specialist Partnerships
We work closely with external professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, health visitors, and any other professionals who may be working with your child. In some cases we can make referrals for your child to other services or we can support you with filling out forms and offer advice.
